April 9th 2022 Stans, NW
SUMMARY
We've created the hive ride because we know group rides & signing up for cycling events can be intimidating. Join us on April 9th for our first ever community ride!
Hive Ride is a day-long women's specific cycling event, centralized in one location.
Three different group rides start and end at the hive (sport2go, Stans) where we have coffee stops by our partners @ vertical coffee, snacks and workshops.
Chose one ride based on your preference or complete all three! Participation in each event and workshop gets you a ticket for the draw prizes from our partners!
Sea to Sky 9:00 Start
Workshop and Coffee Break 11:00
Mountain Valley 12:30
Forest Fairy 15:00

Together, let's support women run businesses. We are collecting 20 CHF per participant for our baristas and mechanics who are putting in a hard effort to be there for us.
Don't have Twint? No worries, you can pay on site, just please scroll all the way to the bottom of this page and fill out the form so we can be sure to bake enough cake and update you with any essential info.
Don't drink coffee, can't join the workshop and prefer to ride for free? No worries, leave us a note in the comment of the registration form at the bottom of this page. We want to keep the access open to all and understand that it's maybe out of your spending budget.
Note: In the comment box of your payment, please specify which rides you'd want to join and any other info we should know! Example: 1 & 2, would be great to have a vegan cake option ;)
PS no confirmation e-mail is sent but we will get in touch with you closer to the event with extra details!

FAQ
What routes will we ride?
We planned a tour of Nidwalden including sea 2 sky, mountain valley and forest views. Each ride is roughly 30 km and between 400 - 600 m elevation gain (with the option to skip the climb). All rides start and finish at the hive (sport2go in Stans, NW).
What time will we ride?
Ride one starts at 900.
Workshop & fuel at 1100.
Ride two at 1230.
Ride three at 1500.
How much does the hive ride cost?
We are asking for 20 CHF to help support our partners and the mechanics who will host the workshop. The 20 CHF gets you coffee, cake and entry of your name to the draw prizes.
Do I need to pay now?
Not at all, we are just trying to get an idea of how many women we can expect on the day of and make sure our partners bring enough goodies.
Do I need to decide which events I participate in right now?
Nope! You are free to just show up and decide based on weather and how you feel that day. That said, if you want to commit to the full 100km challenge and want us to help you stay hydrated and motivated - we're here for you!
What's the easiest way to get to Stans?
Stans has a train station which connects you comfortably 20 min from Lucerne and all major rails. Of course, you could also ride but we prefer the train option because we can pack a bag with extra clothes!
What is the average expected pace?
Each group will have a leader at the front and a sweeper at the back so the pace is legit whatever you feel comfortable with. You do you girl! We expect anywhere between 22 and 27 km per hour on the flats.
I hate climbing - can I still participate and skip the climbs?
Yes of course! That's the advantage of the hive (sport2go in Stans) being so near by. Should you ever hit a bonk (cyclist talk for feeling so hungry and tired and trashed), feel cold, hot, hungry, have a mechanical issue or feel "over it"- the hive is nearby and a cup of coffee with your name on it is waiting for you.
Is it ok to skip the rides and just come for the workshop?
We are stoked to have you regardless of which events you're able to participate in. Our #1 goal is to grow the community and empower you - in whatever way that may be.
I've never ridden in a group before, how can I prepare?
No worries, this is the perfect ride to be your first group ride. A wide range of experienced women will join to give you advice and make sure you feel comfortable.
What should I bring with me?
Obviously a bike and helmet but additional things that come highly recommended include water bottles - possibly with some electrolyte or carb powder, rain or wind jacket, lights for security, and any extra layers and things you might want to keep around at the hive.
What kind of prizes will there be and how can I win?
For every event you start - you get entered to win a prize! Your name goes in the hat and the more events you complete, the more your chances increase.
Prizes include goodies from our partners: DirtySox, Vertical Coffee, Chasing Cancellara coupons and more!
Are men allowed to join?
Although we don't want to exclude anyone, we are really motivated about putting women first and making them feel as comfortable as possible therefore we think it's best if, in the words of Destiny's Child - " ladies leave your men at home". If you'd feel better to ride with a partner who identifies as male, please reach out and we can try and find some solution.
